she had a messy hand. LOL

After playing in the water sprinklers the kids looked like this. YUCK!

What I learned this week: Mirror, Mirror

This is something that has actually been brewing in my mind for quite some time. It started one day when I was yelling at a Sibling for something I was... well guilty of myself when Mom said Now hold a mirror and say it again.

I thought she was nuts she told me to think about it, and I have been.

God has commanded us to bridle our tongues, and do unto others as we would have them do to you.

Dad has always reminded me whenever I point fingers, that when I point one at my sister there are three pointing back at me.

SO what have I learned? I learned that if you are going to go around judging people and pointing out faults. DON'T GET UPSET WHEN THEY DO IT BACK. We should always look in the mirror  when we correct something and see if we have anything in our own eyes.

MY Artsy Award

I've been awarded the Artsy Award by My sister Kendra E Ardnek

Rules
1. Normally this is where it says "thank the person who gave you the award and leave a link to their blog etc. etc." Well, you can do that if you want. I mean, if you like the award and you're glad you got it and you can do that. Or you can just copy this and have people listen to me rambling. :)

2. Answer the five questions set out for you and make the next five questions for the people that you nominate.

3. OK, so usually there's a "NO TAGBACKS" rule. I'm here to say that in #3 of this award you can tag or not tag or whatever you want to do. Agreed? Agreed. ;)

So ... The questions Kendra asked me:

1.) What is your opinion of Grape flavored Candy? Depends, but most of the time, Yuck.

2.)What is your second favorite color? Baby blue. I like sky colors, Sky blue sunset pinks, purples, and oranges. While Pink is my favorite over all Blue comes in a very close second.

3.) Which is more important? A good plot or good characters? Good caractors. You can rewrite a plot but it is hard to rewrite a character

4.) You just found out that your neighbors are from Mars and that they have a device that removes your plot ideas out of your head and they're publishing them. What are you going to do about it? (If you don't write ... then how about the artwork you're planning to do?) Let them. At least I don't have to write it. (KENDRA there is no life on Mars!)

5.) Do you enjoy being random. NO, I have two characters that are random but I have a hard time writing them. I normally have to get help with the RANDOM part

Unfortionatly I do not know anyone to award this prize to. If you would be interested let me know and I will include  go ahead and comment and when I have five I will award and give you questions.

It's in Your Face

This too is one I had to memorize three four years ago.

Poem from the Rod&Staff Time to Plant Reader book

It's in Your Face
Auther unknown
You don't have to tell how you live each day,
You don't have to say if you work or play:
A tried, true barometer serves in the place;
However you live, it shows in your face.

The false the deceit you bear in your heart,
Will not stay inside, where it first got a start,
For sinew and blood are a thin veil of lace;
What you wear in your heart you wear in your face.

If your life is unselfish for others you live,
For not what you get, but for how much you give,
IF you live close to God, in His infinite grace,
You don't have to tell it, it shows in your face.

Can a Girl be TOO modest?

Can a girl be Too modest? This is a hard question, and one I am going to have to do some serous meditation on for years to come. But I will answer to the best of my ability.

So to begin I am going to back up. What is the purpose of modesty?  The purpose of modesty is #1 To not call attention to your self, and #2 To not make your brother stumble. Men are affected by looks and actions, so the more modest we are the less they will stumble, so as far as number two goes no we can never be too modest; the thing is number one.

Modesty is a wide topic. It includes actions, clothes, and words. OK so as far as Words go, No you can never be too modest... that is if it is in your nature. If however you are putting on an act then yes your actions or words can be too modest.

Before I go on I am going to make one thing clear, I do believe in being in style and I am going to explain why. Being in style helps you not call undue attention to your self. What I am against is wearing a style that is immodest  and you're going, But I thought you just said that being in style helps you stay modest. Remember there are two different reasons to being modest. Some things are in style but are not modest as far as the second is concerned.

Now I am going to tell you why I brought this issue up. I have seen this happen, One girl believes all styles are immodest so she has decided that if it is in style, she won't were it. Now whenever she goes anywhere every eye is on her not because she is immodest, but because she is so different. So in this instance she is Too modest.

Let me give you another instance. I am from down south, Let's say I decide to go to Amish country and I were what I normally wear. Now what I am wearing is in style and it is modest but because it is not the norm all the guys would stare and be thinking things about me that a guy from where I live would not. So here again I am too modest.

Now a Amish girl comes to stay where I live. Her dresses sweep the floor have long sleeves and neck lines go clear to her chin. She is very modest but it is 101F outside. People from around here would think she's NUTS. Then again she is too modest.

Now here is one on actions. A girl is dressed in a long flowing skirt with a modest top, she is in style, But she is tumbling about letting her skirt go high over her head. She is dressed modestly But the modestly she chose was not modest for what she was doing. She would have been better of wearing a leotard with a swim skirt that what she actually wore.

This is just a scratch in the bucket. If you have have a suggestion on how a girl can be modest but not. Please comment below. I think all of us females can benefit off of this topic.

Pictures with Words and Letters

This week is Letters and words.
Unfortunately the picture of the mailbox full of mail did not come out... Sigh, Oh well here are some fun pictures.

Museum Amtrak train I visited

Go to the Ant poster I made.

Smile sign I picked up.

My favorite language in the world.
American Sign language
I know about 200 signs
(Believe me there are days which the sign I need is not one I know)

What I learned this week: Green Eggs, God & Listening

This morning Buddy-roe came up to me and said. You know the book GREEN EGGS AND HAM.

I gave him the look. "Of course I know about Green Eggs and Ham."

"Did you know it is like the Bible."

"No, it is not. Please leave me alone I am a little busy right now"

"Yes, it is V. You see in the beginning of the book Sam is trying to get the dog person to eat the Green Eggs & Ham and he will not do it not here there or anywhere. Then Sam finally gets him to stop and listen and he actually likes them."

That is when it clicked. Yes indeed it was so. I am not sure if  Dr. Suss was trying to imply this message but this is what he got. The dog person known as I is a lot like those of us who do not like God and we don't want anything to do with him. Sam was like a missionary who is constiantly evangelizing to (I) and where ever he goes he is always ready to tell of Jesus.

We as Christians need to be like Sam. This world we are living in is lost. Remember the line "In the dark, would you, could you in the dark?" I view this as a challenge to all of us we need to be ready to tell even if the punishment for doing so is death. We need to be ready to tell anywhere and everywhere we go.

This is on thing I learned. The other is, Sometimes it pays to listen when your brother is talking.

My inspiration: Which are you

This is a poem I had to memorize for school a couple of years ago.
ROD & STAFF, TIME TO PLANT - READER 5

Which Are You?
Author Unknown
I watched them tearing a building down,
A gang of men in a busy town;
With a ho-heave-ho and a lusty yell,
They swung a beam and the timbers fell.
I asked the foreman,"Are these men skilled,
And the men you'd hire if you had to build?"
He gave a laugh and said,"No indeed!
Just common labor is all I need.
I can easily wreck in a day or two
What builder's have taken a year to do!"

And I thought to myself as I went my way,
Which of these roles have I tried to play?
Am I a builder who works with care,
measuring my life by the rule and square?
am I shaping my life to a well made plan,
Patiently doing the best I can?
Or am I a wrecker, who walks through the town
Content with the labor of tearing down?

My Ninth Grade Goals

This year my goals are simple.

  1. Get Caught up. Life has been hectic for as long as I can remember and I am a few months behind.
  2. Read through the Bible in a year. And Keep caught up in PC (Polished Cornerstones.)
  3. Finish English 7th grade and all of 8th. This is Rod and Staff English (Put out by the Minnoites)  so it is a bit more tricky that most. I had to do 4th grade twice before I was able to even remotely comprehend what it was teaching. There are only 10 books.
  4. Do 6th and 7th grade Rod and Staff Readers. I am a severe dyslexic and reading and writing do not come very easily to me.
  5. Continue with my History. I am currently in the Renascence. I am also going to try to complete Texas State History. And I will see how far I can get everywhere else. It will depend on how many books the library has on any given area of history.
  6. Science: I think this year is  Physical, I could be wrong.
  7. Math: Algebra 1
  8. Geography
  9. Health.
  10. Violin and Piano for an hour a day everyday.
  11. Sewing class for an hour a day.
  12. music and theater arts
  13. Anthropology
  14. 3-5 Hours a week at the Therapeutic Equestrian center. (Can I make it seven? doubt it. not with that work load.)

Ok, So maybe not. But if I try hard I should be able to do it, Lord willing.  Let's just hope this is not a TOO difficult year.

My Personal Dress Code

Deuteronomy 22:5 KJV The woman shall not wear that which pertains unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are an abomination unto the LORD your God.

Deuteronomy 22:5 NIV A woman must not wear men's clothing, nor a man wear women's clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this.

This is one out of many verses I use to determine My personal dress code. These are MY lines not my parents'. Mom gave me a list of verses and I set my own boundaries.

I live out in the country so everything I wear must be compatible with my surroundings.

Hair: I prefer to wear my hair up, or at least pulled back. I do not wear head bands too often, But scarfs, hats, kerchiefs, and flowers are a normal sight.

Jewelry:  I like Jewelry that does not get in the way of my work. I wear a watch, a simple bracelet, safety earrings and two necklaces that are up close to  my neck so when I bend over they do not catch anything.

Shirts: I Prefer to wear a polo, But I also wear T-shirts. I prefer high necklines to lower ones. I do not wear halter tops or anything tight.

Skirts: I do not wear skirts that are less than two fingers below my knees, preferable at the ankle. I prefer if they are full so they do not hinder my movement.

Pants&such: I do not wear shorts. But I don't mind capreas. I typicality wear a pair of leggings under my shorter skirts, but only for that reason. Jeans are the preferred, and not white. Living on a farm white does not last long. Bleach is a necessity whenever I do where white. I am not the best at staying clean.

Dresses: High neckline, SLEEVED, Low skirt, full back. I don't like showing off my body thank-you very much.

SHOES: My current pair of everyday shoes is a pair of water proof hiking boots with ankle support. This enables me to do my work without having to worry about toes or ankles or anything else. I also have a pair of sandals for around the house. A pair of sandals for church and two pair of nice church boots, one with high heals one without. (depends on the outfit which pair I wear)

I do not believe in TIGHT, or sexy outfits. That calls undo attention to myself. Nor do I wear to overly old fashioned outfits. I like to be in fashion as long as it does not conflict with my moral beliefs.
