Thankful ThursdayComputers

Today I am thankful for my computer. My computer is a desk-top that a friend (who works on computers) gave me a year ago. It has been very nice not having to wait for my mom's computer to do what I need to get done.
Using my computer, I no longer have to keep up with fifteen notebooks for school. instead I type all of my school assignments which is both faster, and easier for me than having to remember to keep my handwriting neat and on the lines.
Also it enables me to be more creative because instead of having to write and rewrite my stories and songs by hand I can just type them up then edit it later without having to scribble all over the page.
Computers are also very useful when it comes to learning. If I want to know something all I have to do is look it up by typing a word into the search engine and push enter, while before I had to find the dictionary/encyclopedia then spend forever searching for the information.

Computers have made all of our lives easier so we can spend more time with family and friends. :)

Fruit of the Spirit Essay

The Bible says that we will know other believers by their "fruit." but what are "fruit" Are they Kiwi? How about an grape, strawberry, or Banana?
Well in Galatians it says But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

But what does these verses mean? Is love that feeling you get when you see a cute guy and your heart goes pitter patter? Is joy always getting to go new places. Peace having nobody want to kill you? No, that is worldly Love, joy and peace but that is not the spiritual fruit that he was talking about. So what are the true fruit?

Love: The Love Paul is talking about here is the "Agape" love. This is an unconditional love. Nothing can stop it you can kill the person and he will still love you.

Joy: This is a never ending joy. It is the ability to be joyful even in the worse of circumstances.

Peace: This is the ability to be content no matter what. I had this happen in my life some years back a Hurricane was coming through and my mother kept on begging my father to take us to my grandparents' brick home instead of our trailer. Dad said no because he had a peace of not going unlike what we normally did for bad storms. Boy were we glad that he did. Seven of my grandparent's big pine trees fell two of them inches from the house and one on top of it. "YIKES."

Patience: This is the ability to be be able to wait calmly for others for extended periods of time.

Kindness: This is the ability to be kind to all. Even when they do not deserve it. This is what my father calls baking bread for your enemy.

Goodness: This is being good even when you are the only one doing it. A prime example is the story of Shadrack, Meshack and Abindigo.

Faithfulness: This is being Faithful in all things. If we say we are going to do something we do it.

Gentleness: This is the ability to hold our temper and not lash out at people. Yes I know it is hard nobody is perfect.

Self control: Self control is the ability to tell yourself no. This I think is the hardest to overcome here in the US with as much wonderful items as there are it is hard to stop at just one piece of chocolate. It is difficult not to just buy, buy, buy. But for a Christian this should be an item.

So these are the fruit of the spirit, now lets lean how to practice them as a people and learn to spot them in our selves as well as others. Now I know nobody is perfect that is why we are not to judge them by their fruits. We will simply know them. It is God's pace to judge what is in some one's heart. although if we see a sin in a friend we are to point it out gently and calmly. Remember to take the beam out of your own eye before you take the speak of dust out of your friend's.

Compassion and Mercy Essay

"So what," A large boy on the playground scoffed, "you have a small scratch, that is nothing if you ask me you are the worst crybaby on this playground."
The smaller boy looked downcast a small tear slipping from his eyes.
"Will you just bug of and leave him alone?" Another boy said looking the bully in the eye. "If you had not of pushed him he would not be hurt. Does the word compassion or mercy mean anything to you?"
The bully glared at him and stomped off.
The other boy bent down then and helped the smaller boy to his feet. "Are you alright?" he asked.
The smaller boy nodded as he dried his tears. "I just skinned my knee a little."
"Come on let's go inside and get you cleaned up."

Now which boy showed compassion and mercy to the little boy? The second, you're right. Bible says we should be compassionate to all, even to those we don't like.
But what does compassion and mercy mean?  Compassion is when we see someone in need and we want to help. Mercy is when we help help them even though they do not deserve it.
A good illustration of this is the story of Jonah from the Bible. God had compassion for the Ninivites and told Jonah to go and worn them that God was going to destroy their city because it was so wicked. But Jonah did not want to so he ran the other way and God sent a storm and his shipmates through him overboard where God sent a fish to swallow him. Then Jonah asked for forgiveness and after three days and three nights in the belly of the fish God had him spat him out on dry ground and Jonah went to Nineveh. Once there he preached gloom and doom and the Ninevites repented although Jonah was upset he had been hoping to get to see fire fall from heaven. God although had different plans. Since they did repent God had mercy on them and forgave the people.

Ephesians 4:32 states Be ye kind one to another, tender hearted forgiving one another even as God for Christ sake hath for given you.
Meaning that we should love all, and forgive them no matter what they did to us. That is what compassion and mercy are all about.
